Paco Rabanne is a fashion designer who fled Spain for France with his mother when the Spanish Civil War broke out. After studying architecture, Rabanne entered the fashion world, creating jewellery for Givenchy, Dior and Balenciaga, before starting his own fashion house in 1966. He used such unconventional materials as metal, paper and plastic for his outlandish and flamboyant designs. Today, Paco Rabanne's fragrance line is one of the world's best known, comprising over 30 different perfumes and aftershaves, including such popular scents as Ultraviolet and One Million.
