Guy Laroche left school at fifteen and traipsed the Paris streets selling his designs. At the age of seventeen, he was taken in as an assistant at Dorothée Bis, before setting up his own fashion house in the 1950s. Laroche moved into the fragrance world in 1966 with the release of Fidji, a ladies fragrance, and cemented his position with the release of the popular Drakkar and Drakkar Noir scents over the coming years. Laroche died in 1989, but his legacy lives on in the perfume world.
